2. Objectives
In our laboratory, we are dedicated to advancing precision medicine through the use of multi-omics data, with a focus on genome and immune genome analyses. Our objectives include uncovering the underlying causes of diseases, identifying new biomarkers, and developing innovative immune therapies. We are focused on developing personalized neoantigen therapies based on genomic and gene expression profiles of individual patients.
3. Research
I. Development of Novel Cancer Immunotherapies based on Genetic Information
Cancer cells acquire abnormal proliferation capabilities through the accumulation of genetic mutations in their genome DNA. These mutations lead to the production of abnormal proteins, which are not produced in normal cells, and serve as "markers" (neoantigens) for the immune system to target. In our laboratory, we are developing methods to predict the most effective neoantigens for each patient through genome analysis using next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics. Using the neoantigen prediction pipeline, we are working on developing cancer vaccines that target neoantigens, as well as developing neoantigen-specific T cell receptor (TCR)-engineered T cell therapies and neoantigen-specific CAR-T cell therapies.
II. Genome and Immune Genome Analysis of Cancer and Other Refractory Diseases
Cancer immunotherapy has recognized a one of the promising options in cancer treatment, although their efficacy has been limited. In Our laboratory, we focus on identifying biomarkers to predict the efficacy or adverse events of cancer immunotherapy through genomic and immunogenomic analyses. We also perform genomic and immunogenomic analyses for other immune-related refractory diseases.
